Hello I’m Laura,

I am an artist, screen printer and surfer. My creative work has always been- in one way or another -inspired by my love of the sea, the coast, surfing and the lifestyle that living here in the Hebrides provides. I feel so lucky to have grown up and live on the Isle of Lewis.

Big blue is my small business venture, a labour of love. a one woman band with a production line of one- me.

I want to create clothing which has an environmentally conscious ethos. I have a genuine desire not to be part of the bigger issue of fast fashion.

I am no fashionista and have spent most of my life at the beach or outdoors in jeans, boots and hoodies. The term ‘Four seasons in one day’ has never been truer than in the Hebrides which more often than not has a nip in the air - especially after a surf. So I wanted to create clothes that would be cosy and comfy but with a connection and sense of place.

BIG blue is a coming together of lots of elements- my love of screen printing; waves; surfing; the Outer Hebrides and the need to feel comfortable.

The idea of someone else putting on my designs and appreciating any of these elements is a genuine thrill.
