Organic cotton clothing….

All Big Blue Garments are made from organic cotton.

Organic cotton is grown without using pesticides, insecticides and herbicides.

Using organic growing systems are far better for soil fertility and helping to create more biologically diverse agriculture. The process also uses far less water than inorganic cotton production.

Water-based inks……

There are two common types of ink used for screen printing, plastisol and water-based. Plastisol is industry standard and the default for commercial printers, but water-based inks are more environmentally-friendly.

Water-based inks are, as they sound, pigments suspended in water with no plastics. After using water-based inks, the screens and equipment are washed with plain water, which can go down the drain unfiltered.

The more commonly used plastisol inks how ever contain PVC, a plastic which has been called the most environmentally damaging of all plastics. Printers must use harmful chemicals to break down plastisol from printing equipment and screens, as a result the run off from these processes are not drain safe and can be very harmful for the environment and water systems if not disposed of responsibly.

Eco packaging….

All Big blues postage and gift packaging are eco friendly. Postage uses eco mailing bags which are entirely made from sustainable sourced paper, are recyclable, biodegradable, plastic free and manufactured entirely carbon neutrally. Any tape that is used is eco tape which is also biodegradable, recyclable and plastic free.

Big Blue swing labels are made with recycled paper and recycled, repurposed cotton from my printing process.
